#1 SIR C.V.RAMAN

Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman Aka CV RAMAN was born in Tiruchirapalli Tamil Nadu on  7 November  1888. He discovered that, when light traverses a transparent material, some of the reflected light changes in wavelength.


This phenomenon is now called the Raman scattering and is the result of that is Raman effect. He was the first to investigate the harmonic nature of the sound of the Indian drums such as the tabla and the mridangam. 


And sir cv Raman won the  Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 for his pioneering work on scattering of light. 


Raman was president of the 16th session of the Indian Science Congress in 1929. 


 For his discovery of the Chandrasekhar limit in 1931 and for his subsequent work on the nuclear reactions necessary for stellar evolution.

Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was born on 15 Sept 1861 in a Telugu Brahmin family in Muddenahalli village.He believed that India could become developed through industries.


He has the credit of inventing ‘automatic sluice gates’ and ‘block irrigation system’ which are still considered to be marvels in engineering. Each year, his birthday 15 September is celebrated as Engineer’s Day in India.


M. Visvesvaraya built Krishna Sagar dam and introduced the technology of steel door to prevent wastage of water in dams. 


15 September is celebrated as Engineers day in India in his memory. He is held in high regard as a preeminent engineering and of India.

Gopalasamudram Narayana Ramachandran. He founded the molecular biophysics unit at Indian Institute of Science which was later known as the center of Advanced study in biophysics. 


He was born in Ernakulam Kerala on 8 October 1922. He was an Indian physicist. And he was the first to propose a triple-helical model for the structure of collagen. He was known for his work that leads to his creation of the Ramachandran plot for understanding peptide structure.
